TARGET AUDIENCE: School Administrators, Teachers, Community Liaisons, and Other personnel working with parents.

Program Description:

An interactive cultural education training that highlights best practices for working with multicultural parents and students. The goals are to promote parent participation in school and cultural understanding. The focus is on learning at home and promoting Reading, Writing, Math, History, and Art. Customs and traditions of Latin America are used as positive educational resources to increase children's self-esteem and motivate learning

Participants Will:

  • Use best practices to increase reading and writing skills using cultural projects

  • Promote math skills in the kitchen while cooking

  • Increase parental involvement in school

  • Learn parent's cultural perceptions and expectations

  • Promote student's self-esteem using art (painting murals, mask making, dancing, etc.)

  • Increase knowledge of the diversity of Latino/Hispanic culrture, customs & traditions and their connections with Indigenous, European & African cultures


Program Details:

Dates:  September 1-December 15 and January 15-May 30

Times:  8 am - 7 pm -During or after school

Duration:  3.0 - hours session

Fee:  $850

Attendance Minimum:  10

Attendance Maximum:  30

Bilingual Presentation:  Yes

Technical Needs: DVD player, Overhead Projector, Tables

Other Info: Can do with or without the Parent Program
